From wind tunnels for aerospace engineering to lifelike simulation manikins for nursing, the Hursey中心 is opening opportunities for a new kind of learning experience at UHart. 看一看!

弗朗西斯十世. and Nancy Hursey中心 for Advanced Engineering and Health Professions provides modern, fully equipped labs and classrooms emphasizing hands-on learning to build students' skills and confidence for successful careers.

The Hartford Healthcare Immersive Simulation Center simulates a hospital floor, with rooms for practicing different health care scenarios - intensive care, 产科, pediatric and medical/surgical. The suite also has an operational nurses' station and communication system.

在模拟房间里, instructors can program our high-fidelity manikins to simulate a variety of realistic health care situations. Functioning headwalls provide oxygen, air and suction. The manikins help students practice their nursing skills, 临床决策, and critical thinking skills which build confidence in a safe learning environment.

The 产科 simulation room has the industry's best birthing manikin, “维多利亚," who gives birth and can simulate different birthing scenarios from simple deliveries to complex, including umbilical cord complications, shoulder dystocia and cesarean section.

The bedside skills lab has eight beds and four high-fidelity manikins used to practice skills such as performing a health assessment, monitoring heart rate and blood pressure, 插入静脉注射, 管理药物.

The bedside skills lab has state-of-the-art high fidelity nursing manikins that breathe, 心率可变, 可测血压, 还有明显的脉搏. The manikins also have heart and lung sounds that can be set for any real-life patient presentation.

The immersive simulation suite also includes six rooms that simulate an outpatient office environment, providing students with opportunities for triaging and handling multiple patients simultaneously.

The Makerspace includes 12 collaborative workstations featuring work benches with overhead power ports, 3D打印实验室, and a fully equipped machine shop. Garage doors provide access for moving large projects in and out of the lab.

Rehabilitation Sciences Labs and Classrooms

The Exercise Physiology Lab’s anti-gravity treadmill enables individuals to walk or run at a lower percentage of their body weight and rehabilitate with less pain. It is beneficial for anyone suffering a knee, ankle, leg or foot injury.

In the Exercise Physiology Lab, treadmills with metabolic carts are used to measure oxygen consumption, 二氧化碳产量, 静息能量消耗, 微小的通风.

Exercise Physiology Lab equipment includes wearable metabolic devices, which can be used in both lab and field settings to collect data on maximal oxygen consumption and anaerobic threshold.

The Hursey中心's home health care suite is set up like an apartment with a working kitchen and a model bathroom. The suite is used for interprofessional education with our nursing, 物理治疗, 职业治疗, 教育学生.

The Hursey中心 provides more than 2,800 square feet of combined classroom/lab space for 物理治疗 students. The room can be divided in two for smaller lectures or lab sessions.

Physical Therapy classrooms are equipped with video recording equipment and all lab sessions are recorded. Students can access these recordings to review and reinforce concepts learned in class.
